The Land

This land does most of the work.

Seventy-seven acres of protected bushland, at the quiet end of Lake Macquarie — an hour and a bit north of Sydney, half an hour south of Newcastle, and further away than either of those numbers suggests.

Custodians

We're the latest, not the whole story

This place has been a retreat for a long time. People have been coming here for retreats, trainings and circles for many years, and the property carries that history.

Our role is to look after it well and to add to it with care.

Protected bushland

It changes how you build

The zoning here exists to conserve the environment. It shapes what can be built and where, and it keeps the retreat low-impact and designed around what is already here.

It also means every development on the property is planned carefully and approved before it happens.

A rule we don't bend

This is a vegetarian table.

Every meal that comes out of this kitchen is vegetarian. Always. That's not a menu option or a dietary accommodation — it's a decision we made about what we want the energy of this place to be.

We state it clearly so that every guest and group knows before they arrive.

Country

Aboriginal heritage on this land

There is recorded Aboriginal cultural heritage in this area, including sites that by their nature cannot be moved. We are at the very beginning of understanding what sits where, and of engaging with the right people about it.

An Acknowledgement of Country will be published here once that engagement has taken place, and no ground is disturbed before the heritage work is done.
